Today’s Marvel Day and my local comic book store promised to get me my free comic last Saturday. He then tried to scam me into buying overpriced coffee and take part in a manga themed event in order to get my free Dr. Doom copy. I said that I will come next Saturday (which is today). He has planned another event but today and didn’t even have the Dr. Doom comic even though he is listed on the official stores who are partaking in this event. Last year’s Marvel Day he didn’t want to give my friend a 2nd copy of the free X-Men comic and basically told me to piss off. I ordered manga there and my new Berserk manga that should be in a (at least) good condition came completely creased on each sides and some pages had small but recognizable tears you can call me everything you want but a new book should be at least 98% perfect (small imperfections are ok). He also didn’t want to take it back and me me sign so much shit. I ordered a lot of comics (omnibusses) with Amazon and never had the same problem. I’m sorry to say that I’m no industry plant nor a Bezos fanboy (he can eat shit as far as I can care) but I never experienced the same with Amazon. I also order from comic book shops that are more than 150km away from me and they also deliver my comics in good condition. So for everyone who is kinda ashamed to buy from Amazon…just do it some local comic book shops don’t deserve our good will.

Could be a hero, concept, series, team, etc. any company. I really like the h dial from dc and wish it was used more.

I just binged millarworld, ngl I hated most of it, superior, starlight and huck were the main standout exceptions. I did like big game, felt like it retroactively made his previous books better and had a good ending. Not the biggest fan of the new huck (huck gets cucked) and nemesis books that have come after.

I’m looking for a piece of art I desperately need as a reference. I could have sworn I had it downloaded, but I can’t find it anywhere. The art in question is two astronauts in full space suits in an otherwise wild west scene. They’ve just concluded a high noon duel. The angle is such that the loser of the duel is crumpled on the ground in the foreground, and the winner is standing in the background. The winner is wearing a brown bandolier, and their gun is still smoking. The loser of the duel has red smoke pouring up out of his now shattered visor. I remember there being a big red word across the top, like a comic book cover or something. Any help here would hugely appreciated. If there’s another community for this kind of thing please direct me to it. Thank you all!

I'm keep noticing Saga covers at my local comic book store. I hadn't heard of it before, but people seem to like it. Does anyone here recommend it? And also, is it the kind of universe that you have to get way into, or do you think I will be able to pick up the first collection enjoy that by itself?

Just got home from it... Tonally, Gunn absolutely nails it. The main characters are perfectly done, the B-list characters like Mister Terriffic and Metamorpho are perfectly done.

So, what is the point of Annuals? If a story comes in monthly issue form, and they're numbered as such, how would you know where an annual fits in with the story? If you're buying in real time, you might know "Ok, Issue 64 came out last month, issue 65 comes out in a week, and the annual came out today. Therefore, the annual comes out between 64 and 65."

I just learned little nemo adventures in slumberland is based off a comic. Loved that feverdream movie as a kid, doesn't really holdup as an adult because of the annoying side characters sadly.

Reading crisis on multiple earths and Johnny Thunder seems like a really interesting character/concept. Basically his own genie? The powerscaling would be difficult but fun, I like how he just goes back and ruins the heroes origins so they don't exist anymore. Did think it was odd when he replaced superheroes with gangster counterparts by giving them their origins and that it worked for replacing superman too. Was he not an alien baby yet when that came out lol?

I already know of dr manhattan, just read Divinity from Valiant and really enjoyed it's take on a human -> godlike being. Specifically where they have and exert power over reality, rather than just having more energy to pew at a higher scale.

They all have no last names, instead their middle name is their last name, and its singh, this is sometimes the case but it is fairly rare compared to them having last names and the middle name kaur irl. Every woman seems to be a singh tho, even the wives of singhs are singhs. Is it just accidental misrepresentation?

Id personally like literature/imagination materialization. The whole concept of powers not being controllable, manifesting beings more powerful than yourself really appeals to me.
