FF as the default browser. is it possible to set such that when I open links on other apps, firefox launches a private window for those links?

For instance, you can go to chrome://browser/content/places/places.xhtml in a browser tab to see the bookmarks and history manager. That link opens the bookmarks, I wonder if there's a URL that opens the history manager directly instead.

I'm not one to usually diss new UI changes, but this one grinds my gears.

I have lots of them and arranging, finding or deleting is tricky sometimes. The search option in bookmarks is cool, but I can't select and edit or delete bookmarks using it. Currently I sync bookmarks with a pc and then rearrange it and sync back.

I dont speak Spanish and would like to just translate websites that I frequent often, can I auto translate them (when the site doesn't ha e the language option or I can't find it).

As Firefox is by far my most used app, I find that bookmarking the current tab and describing the task with no more than a few words or even as little as a few chars, to be a good way to keep track of what things I need to do soon. For things I would get to later or whenever I feel like it, I'll put them in Firefox's "Boookmarks Menu" or "Other Bookmarks" folders, and have lots of folders consisting of Reddit posts and searches about different topics.

I'm running the Ubuntu snap version of Firefox and recently I've had a problem where the more files I download the more sluggish downloads become. When I download a file now, even a few KB, Firefox becomes unresponsive for a few seconds, including video in other windows freezing. For longer downloads, Firefox is unresponsive the entire time. During downloads Firefox uses 1 core 100% in htop and about:performance shows "Firefox" using 100%

I used them when they were released a while ago for the nightly version of Firefox, and actually in the stable channel we are in Firefox 130 and still no vertical tabs, does anyone know an aproximate version when they will be available for the stable channel?

Is there a way to do this with user CSS on Firefox?

Anyone know how? A bug that caused the issue that I can follow along with? It also randomly reset the name and icon in Niagara Launcher.

I deliberately set keywords.enabled to false so that misspelled urls don't end up at google, but now I just noticed that it's enabled again.

It's no secret that Google has a very large influence. They have influenced web pages into being highly optimized for high search engine rankings, and have pushed AMP: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2020/07/googles-amp-canonical-web-and-importance-web-standards-0. However I haven't found any concrete examples of Google pushing web standards that have been adopted and require browser support. I've read comments here and there like this one, that the Shadow DOM was created and pushed by Google, perhaps to make it harder to block ads, but didn't find any sources on that.

I just got a x86 tablet, and it works great with GNOME(Wayland), having pretty good touch support, except for on Firefox. I can't get multi-touch gestures to work, nor touch scrolling. I've tried environment variables(MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1,MOZ_USE_XINPUT2=1), but that didn't change anything. I've also had a look in about:config and couldn't tell what options would change my experience. It should be noted that I have WebGL disabled, but I don't forsee that changing anything. I also see under about:support that the Window Protocol is xwayland, and I'm wondering if that changed anything aswell(the protocol doesn't change even with environment variables).

Hi guys! I’m trying to disable Firefox’ menu that shows when you right click. Sometimes, depending on context (ie, right click on a youtube video) you might get a webpage menu. But Firefox places their right click menu on top of the web’s menu, blocking everything. I want to disable this, so the website/extension takes precedence, and the menu doesn’t show in this case.

Hi guys! Just…this. Whenever I search for firefox on the software installation app, or via dnf, I can see the only available version is v121…or I can update via flatpak to a newer one. How come the repo version is so old? How can I get the v130 officially?

Hello! Im trying to get going on LibreWolf with as minimal inconvenience as possible. Is there a way I can migrate all of my data from firefox into librewolf so its almost just as if It didnt change? I guess the biggest thing is saved passwords and their associations which im going to be migrating into BitWarden really soon.

I have recently realized that I will occasionally hear notification sounds from applications that I had previously opened but no longer has any active tabs (email client, discord, etc.). I’m assuming this means they are allowed to keep some sort of connection in the background until I close all Firefox windows. Is this a bug or a “feature”? How do I turn it off? I don’t want any application running at any capacity except when I have tab(s) open for them.

Most of Mozilla’s money of course comes from Google to make them the default search engine on Firefox. And of course its a way for Google to ensure there’s at least one alternative browser engine. Reading about how Texeira was recently fired and how executives have been pushing for AI features for a long time, Mozilla certainly loves chasing trends and then forgetting them, like how Google kills lots of products. It seems like the company can’t stand on its own two feet without Google’s funding and is poorly run.

I’ve been experimenting with going without the suggestion strip on my Android keyboard because I tend to hit that row (and a random unwanted word) occasionally on my relatively new Moto when thumb typing. This can cause problems in FF as it did for me today when I was writing a long-ish comment and accidentally hit the reading mode button in the right of the address bar (I have my address bar at the bottom) and of course flushed my comment to hell. It was a perfect storm of shit haha.
