Explanation: While the Tsarist government in Russia was overthrown by the democratic-socialist-aligned Provisional Government in 1917, the royal family were only detained at that time.
It was Lenin and the Bolsheviks, who couped the Provisional Government, who eventually gave the order to ‘rid’ Russia of the Tsars once and for all in 1918. Tsars are gone!
While ‘good riddance to bad rubbish’ applies in regards to the Tsar and Tsarina, the children of the royal family were not spared, unfortunately.
