She was gifted to me last year, with only two flowers that fell in a few days (I guess the change of environments hit her hard), and I was feeling quite pessimistic about her future, because I've never taken care of an orchid.
Hey everyone! I'm a huge fan of Hoyas, and Iβve been growing them for a while. I feel like I know a bit, but thereβs always more to learn! Recently, Iβve been especially fascinated by Hoya Kerrii and its care needs.
I had a customer that sent me a picture of a heart shaped succulent planter she found on pinterest, and said, "Can you make it like Minecraft" This is the result.
I have a few spots left in my apartment. Pretty much all bright spots are used up by now, but there are a lot of dark-ish corners (especially on top of shelves and hanging planters) that are still empty.
Iβm moving internationally in the next few months, and am coming to realize I have never moved with plants! Is it possible to move with my plants? I imagine I have to consider things like quarantine and such, but I have a snake plant that I basically raised from the dead and have had for seven years so the idea of leaving him behind makes me all kinds of sad. Do I need to just gift them to other plant moms?
I've had this palm for a few years and it's been fine. I water it once a month, don't move it around too much and make sure the soil doesn't get waterlogged.
A friend recently gave me this plant as a present. So far I have no experience with potted plants, but for now it is doing quite well with plenty of daylight and multiple small doses of water throughout the day. If I knew what kind of plant it was, I could take even better care of it.
Is there such a thing? Some of our plants inevitably grow towards the window quite a bit when I forgot to water them. A very slowly rotating plant stand seems like an obvious solution, but I haven't found any good offerings.
I have no idea why but my foxtail fern has taken off in the last few days. Iβve been having to turn it every day due to the tops always facing towards the window every night.
I have some UV plant lights by my desk that are on often. Recently I started to worry if they are increasing my risk of skin cancer. Is that totally far out or should I try to point them away from where I work ?
I found this what I assume to be tradescantia zebrina last winter as a little stem with three leaves laying on the ground. It has turned into one of my favorite plants over the last year!
Went to a plant show yesterday with no intention to buy. I've had a h. gunung gading (bottom) on my list for so long though and the price was right so here we are... Also there was a carnivorous table so I picked up a sundew (top) to go with my pings that I had at home.
Shipping has closed for the winter so I will not be getting anymore plants this year. Probably for the better... I'll have no space once they all get bigger π
So Grandma has gone into the old people home and my mom is doing a purge of the house. Mom threw out Grandma's scrapbook of gardening magazine clippings from the 1980s and if Grandma finds out, she's getting disowned.
Hey plant friends! π I've been working on some unique, handcrafted planters that are perfect for adding a special touch to your houseplant collection. Each planter is made for my own specific plants. Attached image is my avocado tree and a few succulents.
hello do you have any ideas or experiences related to plants for a very dark bath room? I am kinda scared to just randomly try a plant and kill it with those circumstances
Iβve been great at killing every plant I own within a few months. So guess my surprise when the golden Pothos I bought in March actually survived long enough to be propped and repotted!!!
Got this plant little over 2months ago, and some ofnthe leaves have started to dry out(?) or so it looks like at least. Is this a sign of too little watering? Have tried to keep water consistant, but slightly unsure what is happening.
Is the melanochrysum still considered rare? I've been out of the houseplant loop for several months, really mainly since leaving Reddit and r/houseplants. I've acquired all plants on my wishlist but always loved the pics of the melanochrysum that others posted. I wanted one but didn't think I would ever get my hands on one, so never considered it.
The one with dark, shiny leaves is Alocasia Cuprea, and the one with pretty stems is Alocasia Zebrina. I do hope they like their new home - had a bit of mixed luck with Alocasias in the past...
My Adansonii bush. Not sure where to go from here. I keep chopping the head off, and it keeps sprouting more nodes, making it look a little unbalanced.
I actually have an avo tree taller than me that I started this way 10 or so years ago. It is in a pot, and our climate is a bit cold for them, so I move it into the house in winter.
I might have been a little too ambitious when I set my mind on growing my own wedding bouquet.
2 months after the wedding they are now in bloom.
At least they're pretty! ππ±
After 15 days of my lotus seeds soaking, I think they and I are ready to plant them. I just ordered two 14β pots with drainage plugs. Now onto finding appropriate substrate for them.
Should I be worried? I was away for 3 days and this thing grew in the soil of my Monstera. Google told me it's a Shaggy Inc Cap Mushroom, but I'm unsure. How would that get in there? I repotted the Monstera back in March with fresh soil from the hardware store.
Any idea what this is? Many leaves are dying on the plant, wondering if there is a way to save it. I have forgotten the name of the plant, but will update when I find it.
Anybody know what creepy crawlies is in my attar of roses pelargonium?
Had them a few weeks ago, sprayed with soapy water. They died.
This morning they were back.
The plant is just a tiny little baby, I'm worried it's something that'll kill the plant.
I was helping a friend move and she said she was having no luck with this plant. She said it barely stays alive and never really does well. She said it might be a hibiscus.
I have a dreamcatcher which I thought had a dying leaf or something, but it looks like this could be something like seeds!? There is a second pod which isn't open to the left in the picture.
