This is not a meme, and not really an accurate comparison to Nazi Germany, where the regime actually paid a lot of attention to changing the laws so that the atrocities they committed actually were legal.
But society “officially” agreeing is morality, not law. What he has done and is doing is wrong and deserves punishment for that, not strictly because “it’s illegal”. The difference is demanding consequences vs relying on someone else to administer them.
I am not saying he’s innocent in any way shape or form. I’m just saying that his actions being “illegal” has little meaning if the system can’t or won’t enforce the consequences.
I think, while Nazi comparisons are useful, it’s really important for people to understand that American Fascism is its own thing. Prior to the Nazis and Fascists coming to power, the U.S. was successfully managing an apartheid state and conducting mass sterilizations and popularizing the ideas of eugenics.
The U.S. was MASSIVELY influential on Nazi ideology, and American fascist really appreciated that and supported the Nazis in kind.
American Fascism has grown and developed out of unique American socio-economic conditions (manifest destiny, slavery, the KKK, Jim Crow, militia movement, preppers, protestant work ethic, evangelicalism, etc.) independently from other flavors of fascism, and therefore doesn’t map 1:1 perfectly to any other type of fascism.
The fact that European varieties were actively suppressed for so long while the America variety was allowed to actively metastasize means that the kind of fascism that we’re dealing with today is a far more advanced form and it’s already off the map, so to speak.
The bottom is the US having no internal opposition to Trump. One of the biggest differences between the Nazis and the Republicans is, that the Nazis very quickly and violently destroyed the opposition. Somebody like Mamdami would have never been elected under Hitler. The great thing about the US is, that it has centuries of election history. For the most part with some horrible discrimination of women and black people, but still a large part of the population was voting. That is really hard for the Republicans to destroy and that means that there might be somewhat midterms. Obviously the Republicans will make those deeply unfair. However there is a chance of it going the right way.
Just to be clear, this is not going to be easy and the midterms if anything are only a first step.
Someone once said the bottom to me nearly verbatim for questioning the Iraq war. My grandmother once asked me if I wanted to go to hell because I laughed at Bush Jr fumbling his words.
We’ve been there for a lot longer than people are willing to admit.
When you talk to these crazy Trump apologists, they don’t agree with everything he does… But they hold this insanely delusional notion that things are best with him in charge.
They use whataboitism constantly. Recently I shared how awful things were with one of them, explaining that this country is no longer safe for anyone who openly opposes Trump. They told me “I know exactly how you feel, I felt that way under Obama.”
What do You mean “when it’s too late”? They are at the point where almost all of the freedom fell off and there’s only fascism left. We are all screwed.
A literal child futilely lashing out at a figurehead. There are thousands of people consistently putting the less flashy work in at protests and mutual aid groups as I type this. “Try to keep faith in your fellow man, you build faith in yourself when you do”
It was definitely not legal to murder innocent people. The arrow needs to move down.
The January 6th rioters did illegal things as well. Just because Trump pardons and protects those who do violence, doesn’t mean the violence wasn’t illegal.
I guess the arrow points to how they respond to the accusations, not the truth. The truth is the last line of the meme, and it has been that for a while.

Trump is proving once and for all that so long as he doesn’t get punished for it, everything he does is legal.
Not what “legal” means, is it.
Well it kinda is. If something is illegal but you can’t be punished for it, what does it mean really?
It means society has agreed officially that it should be punished, and you’re getting away with it.
You’re talking about the direct, practical implications, and sure, there it’s no different. But there’s more to life than that.
But society “officially” agreeing is morality, not law. What he has done and is doing is wrong and deserves punishment for that, not strictly because “it’s illegal”. The difference is demanding consequences vs relying on someone else to administer them.
No, society agreeing is morality (well, depends on your conception of morality). Officially agreeing is the difference between that concept and law.
yea we don’t care about the semantics when people are being shot with impunity
you don’t, but that doesn’t mean it won’t turn out to be important later. Assuming fascism won’t last forever it can matter for the trials to come.
Then you’re throwing away a whole load of favour for absolutely no reason whatsoever except that it gives you a feeling of self-righteousness.

Well, so did most of europe.
To me, it seems the USA is already at the bottom

At the bottom, and UK EU following the footsteps hoping nobody notices.
100% we are.
They are already proud of it
Proud boys.

Like… WHAT?
What do You mean “when it’s too late”? They are at the point where almost all of the freedom fell off and there’s only fascism left. We are all screwed.
Even one person can make a difference… If they try.
Yeah, but unfortunately he missed :/
And that was the only person existing in america… To bad.
Seemingly the only one with a greater fear of what everybody is going to lose, than the fear of what will happen to the individual.

I have faith in my fellow man. It’s just americans, I’ve lost all faith in.
Go ahead and dehumanize the other, that perspective never has consequences
um they are already targeting people for wrong think, that arrow is below the bottom flag

This but the GOP and GOP voters think it’s changing the flag from a LGBTQ+ flag to an American one.
