Music Production

I personally feel that goes against what this community should be about but I’d like feedback, especially on wording.

What differing situations call for any which one, how are they combined?

trip-a-lett-ty

Caveat: its usually video game soundtrack items but can almost any track be basically looped in this way?

Have not been successful with this, best Ive been able to do was add an image to just the thumbnail view of the file but otherwise just a horrible pictureless checkerboard placeholder shows throughout the file during playback

Recently ditched everything Windows and Mac and started using Bitwig on Arch Linux.

Are there any consistent flaws with the songs I write, or just anything I could improve on in general?

I transcribe music, and I sometimes come into possession of original instrument stems for the music I’m transcribing. Even with the isolated guitar track, the wah effect can sometimes make it difficult to hear what’s actually going on (I’m talking mainly about very fast/chaotic metal music where the guitarist is flapping the wah pedal like a tasered duck’s beak). I believe that if I could solidify the tone by removing the timbre-shifting effect of a wah pedal, it would work wonders for the audibility of individual notes.

At best, I have toyed around with it and it’s mostly messing around with effects plugin on Soundtrap mostly for fun. Other than that, I don’t know how to exactly make a good beat.

Inspiration isn’t always there, and sometimes I just get stuck and leave a track for a while/indefinitely while I work on something else. Any good tips on breaking through that and actually finishing?

Kinda the whole reason I joined, really. Not sure how many people here are active enough for those kinds of threads but I just wanted to put the question out there.

Who lives in the east ’Neath the willow tree? Sexual Harassment Panda Who explains sexual harassment To you and me? Sexual Harassment Panda Don’t say that Don’t touch there Don’t be nasty Says that silly bear He’s gonna tell you What’s right and wrong Sexual Harassment Panda

I bought a pair of Ortizan studio monitors for my home studio. Aside from the standard TRS, RCS, and aux inputs, it has a usb-c option. Would it be better to directly connect my desktop via usb-c instead of going through my interface and into the TRS inputs? I figured skipping a step (interface) would keep the signal more pure, but then I’m just transferring the digital-to-analog processing from the interface to the speakers themselves. Or is that the wrong assumption and should I stick to the interface+TRS connection?

Only way I can think of maybe to rotate a speaker 90° reposition it, such that audio automagically gradually panning from center to 100% of which ever way to the opposite

I’m working on a bootleg remix (i.e. a remix without permission from the rights holder) right now, which is something that I haven’t really done before. Not trying to monetize it, I don’t have a large following anyway and I haven’t even come up with an artist name I actually like using (I’m not going to call myself DJ Rumschlumpel, but TBH that one would actually be better than the ones I’ve used before).

It’s a bit of a meme among (some?) music producers that picking the right snare sound takes 12 hours and still ends up sounding like dogshit in a wet paper bag. This is more in the electronic / beatmaking circles as I understand, but I’m sure there might be some overlap with production involving live/acoustic drums as well.

What a damn incredible thing it is

I have a curved samsung and its unreal how well it does bass

I love the Sliding Stretch.

I want to be able to have it read the pdf score and playback with a high-quality felt piano sound

In the past when I had Windows I was making beats in FL Studio and sometimes mix in Reaper. I didn’t have advanced skills but I knew how to use these tools. For right now I’m Linux Mint user and I’m looking for something open-source. I think that good choice for me will be some kind of tracker because I want to sample. What you use and can you recommend? I also need good learning resources for this tool, because as I said I’m amateur.

I am currently looking into getting a keyboard to use in jamming sessions. I have so far been partial to Roland GO:KEYS 5 (this over the 3 due to the additional inputs and an acceptable imo price difference). This (around 500 EUR) is around the max I want to give for it.

Also, what happens when you use a fairly hard isolating filter cutoff as opposed to one that lets some smaller % of whatever’s cutoff? Are there issues or risks associated with stuff like that and hearing?

I super badly want to have an extended version of it that has that creaking entirely removed but all the other sound relatively intact.

I want to low pass filter out above a certain range and export that recording into an mp4 that literally doesnt have that part’s information available rather than simply being calculated against but still present and audible if you remove the filter

Where can i hear stuff like that elsewhere and probably longer form?

Does anybody have experience running Native Instruments VSTs on Linux? Specifically the stuff from NI Komplete that uses their Native Access app for installation and management?

Almost everything upward modulates, not so much in reverse

There's this effect that I've heard in a couple of songs. The best way that I can describe it is the way that some video game characters talk (especially animal crossing) where they're speaking gibberish but it also sounds robotic somehow.

My first EP is Fractals. It is an original drum and bass mini-EP, made after a roughly 4 year hiatus

Seems like it can make something sound more stifled or claustrophobic

I mean like an oscillating L or R panning effect or even a generative randomized panning effect
