I just browsed all which I rarely do, but the whole scaled feed was filled with nsfw posts from lemmit.online. What's up with this instance? It seems they repost everything from reddit to their own instance? It really feels like those instances should be defederated but I at least blocked it myself.
i think yesterday i saw comments on some cbs youtube videos, that catched my eyes, for the first time. i mean, they are obviously fake.
today again, on different videos, but always the same sentiment: "great post! keep going! emoji, emoji"
Is it still possible to interact with the communities (post, vote, etc.)? If yes, is it still possible to delete them if the ownership of the community (aka the top mod) belongs to an user from another instance?
I traded in my car over a month ago to a dealership and just got a violation notice in the mail for someone driving on a toll road a mountain over from me. I knew I wasn’t tripping and checked an app that tracks all my driving in my new car and I was actually no where near my own house or near this toll road when this happened. I hate toll roads and would never voluntarily drive on one.
Is there a feature on lemmy where I can automatically filter posts that contain certain keywords, similar to that on Mastodon? On Mastodon I have set a muted words filter that will catch and hide all Mastodon news and politics posts that contain Trump or Elon related keywords.
My 14-year-old sister Lena has made a friend who is constantly picking on Lena for the slightest things, calling her weird, screaming at her in social situations and in athletics, saying she is useless, etc. [my sister has mobility issues and asthma as well]
I don’t mean morally wrong, I know that sexuality is a spectrum, that everyone is different, and I shouldn’t let anyone tell me how to describe myself, I mean wrong terminology.
Are dictionaries included in software (e.g. keyboard typing/autocorrect) known to include names of mythological figures, if so how many and from what pantheons?
Just found out soap is alkaline. If you run out of antacids and your acid reflux is really bad, can you eat soap to settle your tummy? This post inspired by eating chalk for acid reflux.
In my area/city/country, there are people who want to buy "empty small land" (categorized as agricultural). They buy this type of land mostly as a hobby farming thing.
Are they worth investing in? I found out about them after watching the movie Homestead the other day, terrible movie btw don't watch it unless you want to get bombarded with weird Christian shit. I went and talked to a guy who owns a gold coin store about them and he said they're not worth it. I'm inclined to agree but want more knowledge from people who may know more than he does because he seems like the kind of guy set in his ways.
License to fish? License to... RIDE A BIKE? License to... HAVE A DOG/CAT? License to USE A RADIO? (I'm talking about GMRS, AFIAK emergency services do not use GMRS frequencies)
My character Emma is 15. She’s obsessed with sports and dresses really fashionably, often judges other girls for petty things too. She does seem nice at first, even overtly so, to get people to join her friend group, but has a more complex side.
there are some cottelli tights I want to buy. I’m 5.9 feet tall, 31.4 inches waist diameter and 35 inches hip diameter. There are only 2 sizes for this particular model: S/M and L/XL
I am a very very lazy person. I like to pride myself on being in the running with Lebowski. And to me hate takes way way to much energy. Having even the simple idea of killing has to take some effort. Kind of seems like he just set out on a life not worth living IMO
I know an outsourcing agency owner who spends $5K on Linkedin to find 1 client but I can't spend that much money because I am just starting out. I didn't keep in touch with him so I'm asking you instead.
This question came into my mind yesterday, when I caught the smell of burning wires in my room. Turns out, my power supply's fan was jammed by my pen's ink cartridge (Don't ask why)
I'm assuming that if I lose two hours of sleep for five non-consecutive days that I won't have to sleep for ten hours straight in addition to the eight-ish I'd normally be asleep for. How well does the body keep track of this stuff? How much will it forgive?
Its 2nd time I quit smoking for last year. Previous was around 10 months ago. Both times, few days after I quit I have started to see something funny in dreams and waking up laughing. I am pretty sure its related because I don't remember myself laughing in dreams for many many years. Is it related and is there explanation why it happening?
I'm not from the US so all of this is baffling. In Europe and even South America there's tons of mechanisms to stop that from happening, and this kind of meddling would seriously result in arrests. However this is happening in the US with these people going completely unchecked. How is that even possible?!
It seems like with the current progress in ML models, doing OCR should be an easy task. After all, recognizing handwritten numbers was one of the prime benchmarks for image recognition (MNIST was released in 1994).
LLMs are built by generating a network of weights based on a large volume of training data. Some models have made those weights public/open, meaning you could, in principle, go in and manually edit the weights individually to change the outcomes. In practice, you would never do this because it would only ruin the output.
A specific question, but maybe someone here knows! My shower has a drain. When I remove the cover and the "thing" inside of it, there's a stopper with an O-Ring.
I mean, it used to only Apple products. But now Windows is trying to force an online activation (I know theres a bypass CMD command, but still... they could remove it in the future).

I was walking by a chain bookstore in the local mall where I just relocated and I got hit with a 'bookstore smell' when I walked by it and it was just such a wonderful smell to me. It's definitely a book smell, but not the same smell as you would smell in a used bookstore or a library. It's the smell you only smell with new books.
Nintendo was one of the last companies trying to innovate with each console they released. Whilst Xbox & PlayStation simply went the “more power = better” route.
Hey so I googled the steps. I guess we gotta form committees, mobilize, raise public awareness, I got the syllabus. So like how do we get this thing going? Are there organisations already working on this or do we gotta grassroots this?

I'm looking to buy a decent keyboard - nothing ridiculous as I'm not a keyboard enthusiast, but decent enough for regular use. In particular, I'm looking for something...
* tkl or full size, nothing with a non-standard arrow key layout
* Pink or pink and white (or white but cheap enough I can buy keycaps with it)
* Quieter switches and shorter travel are perfered, but not a deal breaker
* Available in Canada
Title says it. I feel like an idiot. A couple newscasts were all I could find on youtube, general search not very helpful, and I don't use tiktok or instagram. (Maybe that's my problem?)
We live in an interconnected world. As an American, I’d like to know some ways that I could purchase goods, in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Canada and Mexico, and still avoid the tariffs.
So. With Elon's closeness with Trump and he's desire for X to be the US'S 'Everything App', could he force any payment of taxes, goods and services to only go through X? Is this possible with his powers? Do you think it's possible or likely to happen? I just envisage him making it mandatory for you to use it for everything and if you don't, you'll have to face fines or other consequences. (I'm from the UK so I may not understand how this might pan out, I just think he's crazy enough and cozy enough with Elmo to force it).
Not everyone thinks this, but I know an extreme right-winger who thinks this. He is also a conspiracy theorist who thinks non-white people are out to get white people so, yeah, odd.
You die and your consciousness wakes up in a void. You have none of the 5 senses - no external stimuli at all. Do you think it would be possible to learn anything new just by rehashing things from memory or does learning require external stimuli?
Saw a truck around town today with a ridiculous lift kit and chunky off-road tires that were clearly much larger than factory standard, and it got me thinking; if you install this kind of modification in a car, do you need to adjust the speedometer to compensate? What about the odometer?
Example: Traffic Speed. Everyone always exceed the speed limit on highways. Why do we still have the limit? Like, either enforce it, or remove it. This stuff doesn't make sense at all.
You somehow magically sense something there through your eyes, but you don't see it at all. It's stronger if you don't look at it directly and move your head about a little. It's like there's an unconscious observer reporting where things are, and you just take the info and acknowledge it, but you don't see it. Anyone else get this?
In Russia, they have only 1 party left, so the party clearly doesn't matter. In Usa, it is not an official dictator yet. In other countries with a dictatorship, I don't know about their parties. So do you know any examples where the parties still matter?
I get the stupid basic excuse about big tech purchasing loads of silicon. That reasoning seems deeply flawed and idiotic to me. If Deepseek R1 democratizes training more for less, then that means customers with mid to small size data centers like universities now have access to train and research models in this space. Nvidia does not have a real competitor, so they get the sale. Their potential customer base just grew exponentially right? OpenAI should be devalued massively by this change, but I don't see why anything impacts Nvidia negatively in this instance. Am I missing something or is the market this level of stupid? (I have no skin in this game)
Every time a film, animated series has non-white characters as protagonists, there are always rights complaining and saying that it is woke or when they can't say that it is woke, then they invent some defect to give hate to the stories?
