Piefed : You can now limit who can PM you

Nice feature :)

At https://piefed.social/user/settings you can now choose who is allowed to PM you.

The default value is "This instance" which will cut you off from PMs from all other instances. We're currently dealing with a bit of gore spam but once a more long-term solution is found a more relaxed default should be possible.

Piefed is adding some great features recently

by Threadiverse enthusiast depth: 2

Pretty much weekly! It being in Python rather than Rust seems to really help! I mean, I'm sure Rust is "solid" and all, but the pace of development of Lemmy seems abysmally slow. Tbf, probably there's a lot more than I know going on behind the scenes, leaving front-ends to handle the "additional features". All I see is that PieFed is doing it, seemingly running circles around Lemmy's pace. Again, what do I know, but anyway I do know that I love what I'm seeing! ☺️

Lot one, i'm writting a guide on PieFed. Mostly based on my french one. Mbin is gneat too. :)

What surprise me the most is that some of them where requested features for Lemmy since 2020. If i didn't found their roadmap, i wouldn't know.

@rimu@piefed.social the notification for this reply was in French for some reason. The interface language settings is selected as auto-detect, and since everything else was in English, I thought it meant it would select the system language (English in my case).

Whoa, interesting bug 🤔

I love the increased curation of domains, users, keywords, communities, instances and messages from Piefed!

What makes an instance trusted?

by PieFed dev OP depth: 2

Ah nice, thank you. Seems helpful!

Interesting to see Sh.itjust.works and feddit.org aren't there

Months ago when I made it possible to designate trusted instances there wasn't any functionality associated with that status so I didn't put much thought into it. I've added them now.

Well that's a game changer, innit?

How do PMs work in piefed compared to other lemmy instances? Do they auto delete after a time or can they be archived somehow? Are we better off going the matrix protocol route for most PM functionality until it's more stable/developed?

Just curious and couldn't find much resources on the matter

I sent you a PM to try it.
