Do we have a clipped ear or is it a trick of the camera where that's a hair and the black ear fades into the background?

Previous owner claims she came home one day with her ear hanging off, shook her head, and the end went flying!

More likely someone grabbed her to neuter her, saw she already was with tattoo, and clipped her but didn't fully get the ear off!
