With the insane number of applications any posting gets these days (I've heard thousands within minutes of posting) it's going to be really hard to prove they even saw his resume the first time.

Something tells me that a hotel in Detroit isn't getting that many applications.

You would be wrong most likely. People set up bots to just spam their applications to every posting it finds.
