Anti-Stalinist and anti-monarchist, yes. The Iron Front was associated with the SPD, which, at the time, was a broader and further left coalition than in present day, and was still, at the time, Marxist.


As far as I am aware, yes.
Generally a pro-democratic movement, something contemporary political culture seems to lack at certain times.



A lot of those people probably died.

Well yes, it’s a picture from 1932 and most of them look middle age already.



Is there something going on with the face of the kid in front, just above above the text at the bottom left, or is that just a weird rendering due to motion or some other old-timey camera effect?

Not sure if it’s just an effect of the camera. Looks a little like burn scars, though.
