Looks like they’re planting it in solid rock. I wonder if it survived?
I’m looking at this wondering if these men have ever seen a tree before because it sure looks like they don’t know where trees like to grow.
Olive trees don’t give a fuck and to be honest most trees don’t.

One of the reasons they were so valued. There are numerous pre-modern polities which offered tax breaks for people growing olive trees, in part because they realized that once those olive trees are established after a decade of growth, not much other than human intervention is going to rid the land of those valuable trees.
